Local area
We are located at Avenida del Brasil, 19, Madrid (nearest underground station is Cuzco). We are based in one of Madrid's most culturally diverse district, within walking distance to all services, underground and train stations.
Facilities
We allow our students to access all of our facilities after hours for practice. We use high quality instruments to make sure our students have the best experience.
Courses
At Sonata we run a variety of unique and challenging courses, and an intensive two-week Summer Course. Our full time courses begin every year in April and October, and our part time courses starting each January, April, July and October. Enrolment is open for our access to Conservatoire courses commencing in April & October. All of our courses are unique and flexible, placing emphasis on what each individual student needs in order to develop their technical ability and practical experience as a musician. We always place emphasis on the need to perform and our students gain varied experience in solo performance, session playing and accompaniment skills.
All of our full time courses cover the key areas of technical skills associated with playing an instrument or singing, such as timing, feel, groove, improvisation, scales and reading. Sonata offers unrivalled one-to-one tuition, harmony and theory, song-writing and sight-reading lessons. Full time courses include frequent participation in group workshops, giving students the opportunity to widen their experience in live performance working with other musicians and accompanying vocalists, etc.

- Summer courses (2 weeks) - every year in July and August
- Full time courses (1 school year) starting October to June or April to December
- Part time courses (3 months) starting January, April, July and October
- Access to Conservatoire courses - for those who wish to become official students of the Royal Conservatoire of Madrid and need to prepare the practical and theory tests in order to access

Open Days are a fantastic opportunity to see our facilities, meet our teaching staff, speak to other prospective students, and get a feel for the school and the way we teach. You will be given information about the history of the school and our courses, and will have plenty of time to ask any questions you might have.

Arriving in Madrid
We will look after you from the very first moment. We will guide you through the process via email and Skype before you reach Spain. We will pick you up at the airport, show you our facilities and meet our team, then we will take you to your elected accommodation and provide your with city maps and local contact numbers for help and guidance. We will also help you with the public transport system, travel cards, etc., and anything else you may need to move around the city.
Accommodation
Living in Madrid is a great experience for our students but the thought of finding accommodation here can be daunting. Sonata does not offer students our own accommodation, but we are here to offer help and advice in any way we can. Sonata provides students with information on finding rented accommodation, hotels and hostels in Madrid. We provide you with a range of online resources and are also happy to give advice and information on meeting your specific accommodation needs.

Visa information
Sonata welcomes international students but is not able to act as a sponsor for students wishing to obtain a Student Visa in order to live and study in Spain. We accept all students with EU passports and are able to accept some students from outside of the EU depending upon the visa conditions that apply to their country of origin. We do not require students to obtain Student Visas for our Summer Courses.
